Upward Powered Access

Published on: 29th July 2019

Upward Powered Access take delivery of DAF CF 8×2 fitted with Sterling GP Ltd access specification beavertail plant body

Supplying a wide range of access platforms, scissor lifts and boom lifts from their four depot locations in Oxford, Slough, High Wycombe and Nottingham, efficient and dependable transport is critical to ensure Upward Powered Access maintain their reputation for reliability and quality of service.

Efficient:

The Sterling body supplied to Upward Powered Access improves transport efficiency in two ways; greater carrying capacity (carry more) and easier loading (load faster).

The market leading truck payload of the Sterling body contributes to greater carrying capacity.  CAD engineering design coupled with the extensive use of high-tensile steels and folded steel sections achieves best payload whilst not compromising on strength.  This strength is especially important when moving the likes of the Genie S80 or JLG 800S.

In addition to payload, Sterling’s unique centre lashing rings design enable Upward Powered Access to carry more machines in one load, especially small scissor lifts such as the Skyjack 3219 by making the lashing rings more accessible.

Full composite gridlock deck and expamet welded to the durbar toe sections of the ramp give maximum grip assisting fast, safe and efficient loading.  In addition, the Sterling beavertail slope and ramps are designed to achieve optimum loading angles and shallowest initial point of impact.

Dependable:

At Sterling everyone is aware of the pain and cost that downtime brings to our clients and we continually work on making our beavertail bodies more durable and reliable as possible.

This body shows several ways that this is achieved.  Some of which are:

  • Extensive use of galvanising
  • I-beam crossmembers (all exposed steel can be painted unlike box section)
  • Black steel is shot blasted and then cleaned prior to paint
  • Electrics are all done using Sterling’s unique ‘plug and play’ wiring loom which is fully sheathed with waterproof connectors
  • Ramp pins are nickel plated and the hinge holes are lined with replaceable dx bushes
  • Rams and ramp cables are enclosed to provide protection

Andy Bradberry, Company Manager at Upward Powered Access commented, “we were just about to place an order for a 32 tonne truck with another supplier when Grant called in to see us.  We told him what we required and within 2 days he had all the quotes we wanted so for the first time we placed the order with Sterling.  They gave us a date the truck would arrive and to their word it arrived on that day.  Full handover was done by Sterling & DAF, the truck was bang on the spec we wanted and we’re very pleased with what we received!”

Sterling are an approved supplier of the Access Alliance of whom Upward Powered Access are a member.  Grant Owen, Sales Executive at Sterling GP commented, “this project is another example of the synergy achieved from the Sterling and Access Alliance collaboration.  Feedback and input from the Alliance members such as Upward Powered Access enable our team here at Sterling GP to continually improve the product, specifically for companies transporting access machinery.  It was an absolute pleasure working with Andy and I look forward to working with him again soon!”
