Summit Platforms

Published on: 2nd February 2023

Providing powered access and telehandler hire throughout the UK, Summit Platforms provide the latest equipment with exceptional levels of customer service.  Their dedication to running a modern, reliable fleet also applies to their delivery vehicles as shown by this Volvo FM 8×2 fitted with Sterling beavertail body.

Designed to maximise ease of use, loading efficiency and safety, this plant body is specified with many features that facilitate access machinery loads which often have low ground clearance, little grip, and high point loading.  Some of these include:

  • Double-flip ramp with knife edge toe and initial loading angle of just 9.5°
  • Centre-gate in ramp
  • Dual serrated steel grating fitted to ramp and slope
  • Maximum cross-member spacing of 300mm centres
  • 38 lashing rings including lashing rings positioned in centre of deck
  • Remote-controlled electric winch with 5500kg line-pull
  • Fold-out edge protection fall arrest system with drop-in walkway planks
  • Two toolboxes
  • Chain bars on headboard with recessed chain wells below

Andy Gilbert at Summit Platforms commented,

“When ordering equipment and vehicles we assess the quality of the products, the service level of the supplier and the ease of doing business with them.  On all counts Sterling GP have proved to be the obvious choice to supply bodies for our fleet of rigid trucks.”
